The quote below was always very important to me. It wraps up in a few words what I feel and I couldn’t say it any better:
Great minds discuss ideas.
Average minds discuss events.
Small minds discuss people.
It is so easy to talk negatively about people, but does it make us feel good? And what have we accomplished? Often we feel guilty, uncomfortable, and don’t like ourselves very much afterwards.
Why do it? Why do we feel we have to talk about our friends as well as other people we don’t like much? Does it fill a subconscious need to feel superior? I am not sure, but I know that I try not to do it. I much prefer to talk about issues, dreams, goals, and topics which are meaningful and uplifting. I love to hear about others’ projects and cheer them on in my heart and mind. Then everyone feels good and we haven’t torn down people to lift ourselves up.
A great quote to remember and to apply in our lives.
